This lovely scarf, called Saroyan, is designed by Liz Abinante of feministy.com. After receiving a ton of requests for this, I'm happy to offer this video tutorial on Liz's design.

The scarf on the mannequin is my Spiral Scarf, free pattern and video tutorial:

The yarn I used on my green finished Saroyan Scarf is Madeline Tosh, Tosh Vintage, in color "Jade":

The red yarn I'm using to demonstrate is Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick-n-Quick.

The double-pointed needles I use for demonstration are made by Inox.

Information about the stitch markers, blocking board, and green row counter can be found on my Frequently Asked Questions page:

Chanu Baishya : Lovely shawl very nice please tell me the length of it (INDIA)
AAD2698 : this scarf has been on my to do list for quite a while. Yarn was pulled to go with the pattern... quite a while ago! Now maybe I will finally get to it! I do what to say that while I use a row counter on most of my pattern work, I set it for the Row I am DOING, not the one just finished. that means that I start with 1 as I knit row one and go on up from there. I have found that it makes it easier to look at the chart or written directions if the number on my counter is the number in the directions. I also usually have two counter. The old belt and suspender type mind set. ONE of the two should be on the right row! LOL
Claudia Regina Teixeira : OMG! I can't belive I've found your chanel again after so long time without kniting. I may admit how wonderful and perfect is your way of teaching. Hope I will knit my first scarf. If you have got an email where I can share job done, please, share it.
Shruti Tanksale : Please guide me to have the written instructions. I liked the pattern and want to try.
Paula’s Tea and Things : If you are using interchangeable circular needles. Thread the lifeline thread though the hole used to tighten the cord to the needle. It slides right along and there is no possibility of catching the lifeline into the stitches.
Leathea Gray : I have some Lion Brand Thick and Quick to use, modifying the length, obviously. What size needle did you use on your demonstration with this yarn?
rumpzafamily : Thanks for this video. I love your teaching style, Stacy. I have learned so much!
Danijela Bogdanovic : I'm knitting this scarf second time and my k4 edge is curling again and I'm not sure why. When you knit it stay straight.
Elena Garcia : Thank you for this tutorial. I love the way you explain how to knit this shawl. Question... when you wash it, did you put it in the dryer? After washing it, how did you dry it and did you have to steam it?
ginnylynn1 : Beautiful scarf pattern ❣️
Definitely on my bucket list
